For Federal President Ignazio Cassis, the UN climate conference COP27 in Sharm el-Sheikh is a success if there is an action plan afterwards with concrete preconditions and deadlines. “Then I would be very satisfied,” he told Radio SRF.
The climate crisis will not be solved overnight, Cassis said. Financial obligations such as those of Switzerland abroad are nevertheless important.
According to Cassis, the needs are so great that the question arises whether foreign aid makes sense at all. For him, however, the answer is clear: “Yes, it is useful – it is useful and how.”
Its use against global warming also helps as a sign that the topic will continue to be considered. “We must not sit still,” said the Federal President. (SDA)
