Bubbles Harmless in Omicron Vaccine

Swissmedic provides clarity for Pfizer’s bivalent vaccine.

After bubbles formed in a batch of the bivalent Pfizer vaccine, the Swissmedic Medicines Authority checked the “Comirnaty Bivalent Original/Omicron BA.1” vaccine.

And now she makes it completely clear: according to the analysis, the bubbles were caused by pressure or temperature differences. The vaccine can still be used.

Pay attention to vaccination points

Swissmedic recalled that vaccine doses must be prepared strictly according to the manufacturer’s specifications. A vaccine should also not be increased more than 15 minutes before use.

The institute approved the tested vaccine on October 10. The vaccine promises greater effectiveness against the ommicron variant BA.1 than its predecessors, Swissmedic announced at the time. (SDA/sf)
