The Baselbieter JSVP politician Sarah Regez took part in a performance by right-wing extremists.

Now the dispute is escalating in the Young SVP: head of strategy Sarah Regez (30) has to give up her position for the time being! In a joint letter, six cantonal party leaders of the Young Party called for Regez’s removal until all allegations are cleared up.

The reason for the demand is research by Blick: the SVP politician took part in a meeting with right-wing extremist Martin Sellner. The Austrian ‘remigration planner’ appeared – together with Junge Tat – in the canton of Zurich.

The parts of the Young SVP Basel-Stadt, Graubünden, Solothurn, Schaffhausen, Thurgau and Säntis (Appenzell Ausserrhoden) demand from their party a “clear demarcation of extremist groups” and “a commitment to the fundamental democratic order”.

The sections announced on Tuesday that ideologies from all political extremes have no place in the young party’s understanding of values. The young parties would consistently avoid the use of terminology and distance themselves from any support or dissemination of such content on social networks.

suspend office

The six sections are therefore calling on Basel-based Regez to temporarily suspend her position in the party leadership as head of strategy for the JSVP Switzerland, it was said. The allegations against her must first be cleared up. According to the sections, any dismissal or exclusion from the party leadership must be taken into account.

The authors of the letter also call on the new party chairman Nils Fiechter (BE) and the entire party leadership to clearly distinguish themselves from right-wing extremist movements. There was no official statement from the JSVP Switzerland at that time.

During an organized Junge Tat event in Tegerfelden AG, the right-wing radical Sellner was stopped and sent away by the Aargau cantonal police. The Young SVP Aargau then expressed his solidarity with the Austrian, which in turn led to criticism. After the criticism, the Aargau section distanced itself from right-wing extremist positions.
