Swiss households will have to pay less for the services of the national grid operator Swissgrid next year. The costs drop from 92 francs this year to 77 francs. However, this only corresponds to 5 percent of the expected electricity costs.
The saving of 15 francs applies to a household with an annual consumption of 4,500 kWh, Swissgrid announced on Wednesday. For a company with an annual consumption of 90,000 kWh, costs should fall by 300 francs.
The rates depend largely on factors over which the grid operator has no influence, such as price developments on the electricity markets or regulatory projects. According to its own statements, Swissgrid uses them to finance the “safe and stable operation and the expansion and modernization of the high-voltage network”.
At the same time, the cost of the federal government’s electricity reserves will also decrease by 43 francs per household. The reason for this was the “significantly lower expected costs” for the hydropower reserve, it was said. (SDA/kae)
