In addition to freedom, Switzerland would lose both direct democracy and economic success and therefore prosperity, the party said. The population must not be misled. During an action on the Federal Terrace, the parliamentary group flew Swiss cross balloons with this message on postcards.

“The EU turbos in the Federal Council and the government, as well as the other parties, still want to institutionally link Switzerland to the EU,” the SVP warned. The President and Council of States Marco Chiesa (TI) explained that this would have negative consequences in all respects. The party will intensively inform the population.

The Federal Council has already committed to an institutional connection in a “Common Understanding”. Switzerland must automatically adopt EU law, submit to the Court of Justice of the EU, abolish direct democracy, make regular payments and could be punished by the EU.

In plain language: Switzerland will become “a colony of Brussels”, said parliamentary group leader and national councilor Thomas Aeschi (ZG). A better way is the free trade agreement with India recently signed by Federal Councilor Guy Parmelin.
