Because the advertising matches that the Green politician handed out during election campaigns last year could ignite on their own. The canton party warned about this in a newsletter, Zentralplus reports. The advice: throw it away!

When asked, Weichelt said they had become aware of a possible danger through three reports from party members. In one case, it is suspected that the matches were ignited by friction and melted lighters lying next to them. Fortunately, no accident with personal injury or major material damage occurred.

Laboratory examines the matches

The party takes the messages very seriously. “We immediately took all necessary measures to warn party members or sympathizers of the possible danger,” said fellow party leader Luzian Franzini (28). According to Weichelt, the manufacturer has also reassured them that the matches are safe. The cause of the reported incidents is currently being clarified.

Moreover, the party now even has the matches examined by a laboratory to determine the correct chemical composition. “We may have been a little hasty with the warning, but we didn’t want to take any risks,” says Weichelt.
