There is a commotion at Ruag. After CEO Brigitte Beck had to resign last summer, the chairman of the board of directors of the federal gunsmith Nicolas Perrin is now also leaving the company. The Ministry of Defense (VBS) led by Viola Amherd (61) and Perrin are said to have reached an agreement on a mutual termination, the ‘NZZ’ reports. Why remains unclear for the time being. Perrin must remain in office until a successor is found.
Ruag has been in the news again and again recently. As it became known last year, the arms company had started selling 96 Leo 1 tanks to the German arms company Rheinmetall without the green light from the Federal Council. A preliminary contract had already been signed. The state government later concluded that a sale would not be compatible with the neutrality law. Amherd launched an external investigation to investigate the affair.
