According to a statement from Tuesday, the women’s session has also provided long-lasting networks for female politicians and encouraged several women to embark on political careers. During the women’s session on October 29 and 30 last year, 246 selected participants from across Switzerland discussed more than 70 transactions and approved a total of 23 demands.
Of the demands made in 23 petitions, five have already been accepted in both councils and another six have been decided in the committees or first councils. In the future, the Federal Council should regularly launch national prevention campaigns against domestic, sexual and gender-based violence and investigate how universities and technical colleges can recruit more part-time researchers.
Moreover, in the future more people will receive a higher AHV pension thanks to the care work they have performed. In addition, Parliament has passed postulates demanding that sex education be improved in schools and that the proportion of women in so-called coining professions (short for the fields of mathematics, computer science, science and technology) be increased.
The Federation of Swiss Women’s Organizations includes Alliance F, as well as the Swiss Evangelical Women (EFS), the Swiss Catholic Women’s Federation (SKF), the Swiss Non-Profit Women’s Association (SGF), and the Swiss Peasant and Rural Women’s Association (SBLV). The Federal Commission on Women’s Affairs (EKF) and the Confederation are also mentioned in the communication.
