New association for Russian friends: SVP Freysinger now makes Putin propaganda

Since Vladimir Putin went to war against Ukraine, Russia no longer has many friends in this country. Wilhelm Wyss (24) from Basel wants to change that. Last November, the activist founded the Russian-Swiss Friendship Association (VRSF), where he has since acted as general secretary and press spokesperson.

Information evenings to correct untruths

When asked, Wyss said that they were especially committed to improving relations between Switzerland and Russia, promoting cooperation between companies from both countries and conveying a positive image of Russia in Switzerland. “We also want to expose and correct the untruths being spread about the current situation in Russia and Ukraine.”

Rimoldi and Freysinger participate

The most prominent member of the VRSF is the former Valais state councilor Oskar Freysinger (63). Founder Wilhelm Wyss called him and asked if he wanted to participate, the former SVP national councilor told Blick. Since the direction was right, he agreed.

Freysinger, who has devoted himself to writing books since his retirement from politics and recently launched his career as a songwriter “Der Frei Singer” on the TV Obervalais channel, believes that the West is on the wrong track in Ukraine. Other members of the association include Mass-Voll president Nicolas A. Rimoldi (29), a representative of SVP Reinach and two women from the controversial association Russkij Basel. Unconditional loyalty to Russia

Wilhelm Wyss, who has never been to Russia himself, understands Putin and is proud of it. Flags of the Soviet Union hang on the windowsill of his house and he repeatedly spreads Russian propaganda on platform X (formerly Twitter). When Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited Switzerland in mid-January, Wyss noted: “It is truly a pity that our Federal Council kindly welcomes the corrupt warmonger Zelensky instead of siding with the Russian liberators who sacrifice their lives every day for the peace. Europe.”

Wyss’s unconditional loyalty to Russia has caused many problems in the recent past. Because his party, the SVP Baselland, did not like Putin’s propaganda, Wyss resigned in October 2022.

There is also a risk of new problems due to the club logo, which features an official-looking Swiss coat of arms.
