Federal Councilor Beat Jans will participate for the first time in an EU ministerial meeting in Brussels on Thursday. (Archive)

The issues in the field of international security and migration are very complex. These can only be solved together, Jans continued. That works best ‘if you know each other and what each other’s needs and concerns are’. He’s looking forward to it.

In addition to migration, ministers also discuss international crime – especially the cocaine trade, which has increased sharply in the EU and Switzerland.

Jans is also counting on cooperation here. The fight against drug trafficking is “an extremely difficult task that can only be solved together,” said the head of the Federal Ministry of Justice and Police (FDJP). This not only concerns the drug trade itself, but also the crime that accompanies it.
