The Federal President’s first trip abroad takes him to Austria. That’s tradition. But Viola Amherd (61) has to postpone the planned visit.
She is suffering from Covid-19, as her federal Ministry of Civil Protection, Defense and Sport (DDPS) announced on Tuesday. The visit was planned for this week. The DDBS has not announced an alternative date.
The Federal President meets in Vienna with the Federal President, the Chancellor, the Chairman of the National Council and other government representatives. The Austrian Federal President is currently Alexander Van der Bellen and the Chancellor is Karl Nehammer (ÖVP).
Due to Amherd’s Covid disease, Vice Federal President Karin Keller-Sutter (60) will chair the meeting of the Federal Council on Wednesday, as Federal Council spokesperson André Simonazzi announced. Amherd will also join the meeting via a secure video conference line. (SDA/lha)
