The FDP wants to become the second largest party. According to party chairman Thierry Burkart (47), the main goal of the FDP in the coming election year is to overtake the SP. At the meeting in Burgdorf, he called on the delegates to fight together “with fire”.
True to this motto, the Saturday meeting started with a fire and light show. “Fighting together, winning together for freedom and responsibility, but also for community spirit and progress,” Thierry Burkart told delegates. That is the motto for the coming election year.
criticism of left-wing parties
Burkart outlined the views of the FDP and sharply criticized the left-wing parties. “We need liberal reforms in this country,” Burkart said. These are desperately needed, because the good preconditions for an innovative economy and an excellent research location are threatened by constant attacks by the Green Left.
In the election year, the FDP wants to focus on the themes of economic policy, pension provision and security, security of supply and energy policy.
Clear position in Ukraine
In the field of energy, Burkart advocates a “preferably CO₂-free but reliable power supply”. According to him, it is not possible to get out of nuclear energy and achieve the climate goals at the same time. In this respect, politics has been shaped too much by ideology and wishful thinking in recent years.
With regard to the war in Ukraine, Burkart argued for a clear position in favor of freedom, democracy and self-determination. “It is not a violation of neutrality. Switzerland has never been neutral,” says Burkart. Ukraine, as a sovereign state, has the right to self-defense.
Closer NATO cooperation
The war also demonstrated the need for an army that should also be able to work more closely with NATO. “Left-Green’s political struggle against our ability to defend ourselves has always been wrong. Today, however, it’s downright grotesque,” says Burkart. (lazy/SDA)
