Swiss is trying to find alternative solutions for the affected passengers, it said in a statement on Tuesday evening. The next Swiss flights to and from Beirut are scheduled for Saturday, January 6. Further flights are planned until January 13, after which Swiss will not operate the route during the winter months (until March 22).

Swiss continues to closely monitor the security situation in the Middle East and is in close contact with local and international authorities, the report said.

On Tuesday, Saleh al-Aruri, the vice chairman of the Palestinian terror organization Hamas, was killed in an airstrike in Beirut. Aruri is believed to be a co-founder of Hamas’s military wing, which immediately blamed Israel for the airstrike.

Swiss flight connections to Beirut were suspended after the terrorist attack on Israel by the Islamist Hamas on October 7 and only resumed on December 16.

Hamas had invaded Israel from the Gaza Strip and massacred, raped, killed and kidnapped about 1,200 Jewish civilians by dawn. Since then, the Israeli army has been fighting in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip to free Israeli hostages and destroy Hamas. According to them, more than 20,000, mainly Palestinian civilians, were killed.
