This is how Martullo-Blocher spends the holidays: “No political discussions, but plenty of food.”

At Christmas, Magdalena Martullo-Blocher finally has more time for walks with her husband Roberto.

Your life is in full swing. She is considered one of the most successful entrepreneurs in Switzerland, sits in parliament as a national councilor for the canton of Graubünden and as vice president in the SVP party leadership. Magdalena Martullo-Blocher (54) politicizes – and polarizes.

In the FesttagTalk on TeleZüri on Wednesday, she showed her private side for once. And revealed that she can definitely catch her breath during the holidays. Because, like everything else, she planned accordingly. “I like to have a vision, that’s why I like to be in the mountains,” says Martullo-Blocher in the talk show. Above all, to get out of the fog. She is privileged because she has a house in Lenzerheide.

It is better to walk in the snow

The entrepreneur says that she no longer goes on skis as often as she used to. «I used to drive well and fast. But today I avoid the ski slopes,” she says. Many people would talk to you while waiting at the ski lift, despite wearing a helmet. That’s why she prefers to go running in the snow at this time – because she also has time to talk to her husband Roberto (61).

She loves the exchange with people, but also the peace between the years. This has a lot to do with the fame of her father Christoph Blocher (83), which has always bothered her in the past.

As a child, Martullo-Blocher says, she never wanted to go into politics and be like him. That’s why she took her husband’s name. “I thought no one would know me as Martullo anymore,” she says. Not even close.

Enjoy Christmas

Their credo is: “Those who accelerate will achieve success faster.” She proved this as an entrepreneur when she took over Ems-Chemie at the age of 34 and was pregnant because her father had been elected to the Federal Council. She also proved this in 2015 when she was elected a member of the National Council – without having completed the political ox journey.

Nowadays, father Christoph is seen as her sparring partner in political discussions. But not at Christmas. “It makes us put aside our lively political discussions and enjoy the beautiful things,” says Martullo. Mother Silvia (78) also takes care of this. At Christmas there is ‘plenty of food’ and large Christmas trees.

Your greatest wish

And what does the fifth richest woman in Switzerland want for Christmas, according to business magazine Forbes? “My greatest wish for Christmas is time. Because that’s what I miss. But I can’t fulfill that wish either,” she says, laughing.

The family is also very practical with wish lists that contain practical things that the Blocher family would like. From new tablecloths to vouchers for joint activities, everything comes together. (oco)
