Despite an empty wallet: the Swiss definitely don’t want to miss this in 2024

Costs are rising in Switzerland.

Inflation, higher healthcare premiums and energy costs, rising rents: many Swiss will have to dig deep into their pockets next year. According to a Comparis survey, they expect financial losses.

Nearly a third of respondents expect to have less money in their wallets and accounts by 2024, as Comparis announced. The comparison service speaks of a “record level” – in previous years the share of negative opinions was between 13 and 18 percent.

Save on gadgets

Above all, rising health insurance premiums and higher rents and mortgage interest rates cause the population to fear financial decline. And yet they don’t want to give up everything.

More about rising costs
Strong inflation
Butter and sugar much more expensive than 2021
Risk of a crash
Referendum against health care reform
Cost increase next year
Therefore, your expenses increase by 2,000 francs
Hairdressers, cooks, cleaners
By 2024, there will be more wages in these sectors
After the divorce
When should I pay less alimony?

When they have to tighten their belts, respondents most likely want to save on new electronic products and gadgets. However, many people cling to holidays and their own car, Comparis writes. Only 36 percent would most likely forego vacations and travel. Last year that was 41 percent.

Car untouchable

The car also remains very popular: only 28 percent of Swiss respondents see their own car as an option to do without it. This value is lower than in the past three years.

The survey is representative and was conducted in November. On behalf of Comparis, the market research institute Innofact interviewed 1,021 people in all regions of Switzerland. (oco/SDA)
