Badge Gate at the Federal Council Festival: Only thanks to Badran can Emil take part in the festivities!

Happy ending: Defeat Jans and Emil Steinberger at the Federal Council Party in Basel.

This probably rarely happens to Emil Steinberger (90): the cabaret legend got stuck on a bouncer! He did not let the cult comedian attend the party of the Federal Council of Beat Jans (59) in Basel.

When Steinberger and his wife Niccel (58) arrived at the Volkshaus on Thursday evening, where the grand celebration of the neo-federal council took place, it was over at the entrance. Because Steinberger – it is not entirely clear why – did not have a badge giving access to the illustrious circle of benefactors.

Stubborn bouncers

There were helpers nearby who had a whole bag of IDs with them, but they didn’t want to give them to Steinberger. And the bouncers were resolute: “We have our instructions and only let in people who have a badge.” And without exception: even the newly elected federal councilor – in whose honor the festival takes place – had to identify himself with his entrance badge.

But the staff did the calculations without SP state councilor Jacqueline Badran (62). “That’s Emil!”, the country’s best-elected national councilor campaigned vigorously to grant the comedian access. In her infamous manner, she talked to the helpers until they turned to their bosses. “Maybe they didn’t recognize him,” Badran told Blick. “Given their age, they should, but nowadays you never know.”

“They won’t let Emil in!”

In between, President of the Council of States Eva Herzog (61) also passed by, accompanied by awe-inspiring federal women. “Eva, do something, they won’t let Emil in,” Badran shouted at her party member.

Apparently successful: after fifteen minutes of Badran’s persistence and countless phone calls, a badge for Steinberger and his wife suddenly came to light. The residents of Lucerne were allowed in to enjoy Basel wine and Läckerli – and Beat Jans, who was visibly happy with the celebrity’s visit. (sf)
