SVP, FDP, center – according to research by Blick, the 70 votes for the wild SP candidate Daniel Jositsch (58) came from these ranks on Wednesday. Not true, claimed FDP president Thierry Burkart (48) yesterday in the SRF “Rundschau”.
Only one to three FDP votes were cast for Jositsch. He checked that: “I walked through the lines and talked to people. Everyone told me they were also looking left and right. There is a certain social control.”
This statement is now causing a stir in the Federal Palace. Because the elections – including those for the Federal Council – are secret. Parliamentary law says: “Voting is secret.” And the so-called ban on instruction is enshrined in the Federal Assembly: according to it, national and state councils freely exercise their mandate. No one can tell them how to speak, vote or vote.
The comments on Burkart’s statement are correspondingly harsh. Enforcing social control over voting secrecy is “hardly liberal”, says Mitte President Gerhard Pfister (61).
