FDP Council of States Thierry Burkart had more money at his disposal than he could spend during the election campaign. Problems that FDP Finance Minister Karin Keller-Sutter can only dream of.

Almost twice as much money in the election campaign as originally announced. The FDP State Council of Aargau and party chairman Thierry Burkart (48) did not have to worry about a lack of resources during the election campaign – on the contrary. He didn’t even know what to do with all the money.

Burkart received campaign donations of 341,244 francs. Information from the Federal Audit Office (SFAO) shows that the 48-year-old politician has not used any “monetary means”. So he did not have to use red-black horses in the election campaign.

About half is not necessary at all

The president of the FDP Switzerland received 308,763 francs as “monetary donations”. He received another 32,480 francs as “non-monetary benefits”.

Burkart told the “Aargauer Zeitung” at the end of the summer that his likely campaign budget was 180,000 francs. Donation income was higher than estimated in August, Burkart said in the Thursday edition of the “Aargauer Zeitung”.

He spent 180,000 francs of the income. Burkart says he wants to set aside the unspent money and use it for possible future elections and for political projects.

Mitte-Binder is not yet providing any information

State councilor Marianne Binder-Keller (65, center), who was elected to the Council of States in the second voting round, has not yet provided information about income. Council members must only make the final income statement public after the elections.
