class=”sc-cffd1e67-0 fmXrkB”>

More money for regional projects to expand the railway. That is what the committee of the Council of States demands.

The Council of States Commission for Transport and Telecommunications (KVF-S) wants to increase loans for railway expansion by 250 million francs in 2025 and 2035. In doing so, it takes into account regional interests and a balanced development of public transport.

The Commission fundamentally supports the long-term strategy Perspective Rail 2050 and the planned changes to the rail infrastructure expansion programs for 2025 and 2035, as announced by the parliamentary services on Wednesday. However, in order to ensure balanced development for all regions, it requests higher commitment appropriations.

It wants to finance the continuation of planning for the demerger in Pratteln BL in the expansion phase in 2025 with a further 25 million francs. In the 2035 expansion step, the Transport Commission wants to make explicit plans for the expansion of the Ebikon LU train station, which will increase the loan by 100 million francs. She also submits an application to her municipality for the realization of the Morgartenring in Basel with a loan increase of 15 million francs.

No credit increase for Meilibach tunnel

It increased the loan by 10 million francs for the project planning of the double-track extension of Tiefenwinkel on the Zurich-Chur axis and for studies on Western Switzerland in the context of the 2035 expansion step. To prevent further deterioration of the timetable in Western Switzerland Additional projects will be carried out there that should be included in the expansion in 2035 for 100 million francs.

However, the committee rejected a credit increase of 100 million francs for pre-investments in the Meilibach tunnel. This was supposed to connect the Zimmerberg Base Tunnel underground with the Thalwil-Pfäffikon route, but was postponed. According to the parliamentary services, the KVF-S does not want to risk delays in the construction of the second phase of the Zimmerberg tunnel. (SDA)
