The Zurich District Court convicted the former director of the Zurich waste management company ERZ on Wednesday. Urs Pauli (65) received a suspended prison sentence of two years and a fine.
The court convicted the ex-removal boss for disloyal management, multiple falsification of documents during his tenure and disloyal business management. The trial took place in an abbreviated manner because Pauli confessed.
From 2015 onwards, numerous irregularities came to light at ERZ. External research showed that the municipal waste management system under Pauli was a ‘parallel world with its own rules’, with expensive company cars that Pauli would also have used privately, slush funds with more than 200,000 francs and false bookings.
Even before the ERZ affair became known, Pauli was criticized for his arbitrary management style and his approach to individual transactions. (nad/SDA)
