The company Mobile Ärzte AG, which offered a 24-hour emergency and home visiting service in several cantons, has gone bankrupt and has to close its activities. This has consequences in the canton of Aargau, where the company provided services for the judiciary and police.
The Aargau Ministry of Health and Social Affairs (DGS) announced on Monday evening that the discontinuation of services necessitates measures in the field of prison release and social housing. An employee of the company informed the cantonal emergency center on Sunday evening that the agreed service could no longer be provided.
Immediate action was taken, the press release continued. They look for solutions from established doctors. The canton assumes that there may be waiting periods when investigating suitability for prison and for assisted living.
The mobile doctors provided services on behalf of the judiciary and police. The company also checked the suitability for interrogation of temporarily arrested persons and, among other things, issued death certificates.
At the end of 2020, the government council had already admitted in its statement in response to a request in the cantonal parliament that there were problems in cooperation with mobile doctors. Doctors, institutions, police and authorities are not satisfied with the work of the private service provider.
In the canton of Aargau, the medical officer system was abolished in early 2017. It became increasingly difficult to find general practitioners who could take on these tasks in the militia system.
The canton has therefore concluded a contract with the private service provider. But the doctors’ language skills are poor, the government council said in the statement. There is a lack of empathy towards loved ones and patients. The bills would also be too high.
It was said that there was a lack of competence in the field of psychiatry. He based this criticism on surveys among doctors in Aargau.
The company Mobile Ärzte AG is located in Allschwil BL. According to information from the Canton of Aargau, the Debt Enforcement and Bankruptcy Office of the Canton of Basel-Landschaft had already published a preliminary bankruptcy announcement on November 7. The company only informed the canton of Aargau on Monday afternoon. (SDA)
