Because National Councilor Ryser is pregnant: Switzerland’s most famous shared apartment is about to end

National councilors Mike Egger (SVP, SG), Andri Silberschmidt (FDP, ZH) and Franziska Ryser (Greens, SG) invited federal councilor Simonetta Sommaruga to dinner.

They formed Switzerland’s most famous shared apartment! The three National Council members Mike Egger (SVP), Franziska Ryser (Greens) and Andri Silberschmidt (FDP). Now they are breaking up their political shared apartment in Bern, as the “St.Galler Tagblatt” reports. The reason for the end of the impartial sharing apartment is positive.

All three were re-elected to the National Council two weeks ago. And yet at the end of the year they break up their shared apartment. St.Gallen councilor Franziska Ryser (32) is expecting a child. And leave the shared apartment. Despite political differences, the impartial coexistence worked well for four years. And somehow she made the roommate and her two coworkers likable.

‘We are looking for something different’

“We are very happy,” 32-year-old Ryser told Tagblatt. In the future she will live in the city of St.Gallen with her partner. A simple shared room in Bern no longer seems suitable for the expectant mother. “We are looking for something else that better suits the care for our child,” she says.

After giving birth, Ryser will be absent from parliament in February and March and then wants to gradually return to work. First of all, during particularly important meetings, such as the investigative committee in the Credit Suisse case. A farewell dinner with a federal council member is not planned, Ryser said. The fact that her shared room would be rented to a newly elected parliamentarian was never a problem. That is why Egger and Silberschmidt are also reorienting themselves. (pbe)
