“Serious threat to nature and landscape”: Fondation Franz Weber holds referendum against coat decree

The Fondation Franz Weber (FFW) is opposing the referendum against what it considers a hastily adopted and over-reaching proposal, it announced on Friday. The positive thing about the Energy Shell decree is that it promotes the generation of electricity from renewable energy sources, the statement said.

But it completely questions fundamental principles of nature and landscape protection. It allows the clearing of forests for the construction of wind power plants, wind and solar parks in protected landscapes and in valuable biotopes. The priority of interest in electricity production becomes the fundamental principle.

Resistance in parliament decreased

That is absurd, says Philippe Roch (74), board member of the FFW Foundation, former director of the Federal Office for the Environment (BAFU). Because nature reserves are important allies in the fight against the consequences of climate change.
