A vegan cookbook is dedicated to parties!

Those looking for substance will be disappointed in this election campaign. What does it say that SP, SVP, GLP? If you look at the videos, posts and actions of politicians, you will quickly end up with meatloaf or bratwurst: butchers prefer not to reveal the content in detail.

Maybe a cookbook could help? And ensure that the debates still boil over? At least that’s what Animal in Focus (TIF) hopes. In the final days of the election campaign, the animal rights organization published a collection of recipes. Not just any, but a political one. Written with a touch of humor and a good dash of veganism. The highlight: the recipes are based on the values of the parties.

Rösti for hash browns

The SVP Rösti is served accordingly. No, not her federal councilor Albert Rösti (56), after all, everything must be vegan. Instead, all products come from local cultivation, TIF writes – domestic priority on the sign! The dish also represents tradition. Federal Councilor Rösti can be happy, even though his favorite food is not actually Rösti, but Härdöpfelgratin with pork steak. For this he not only reached the top of the Swiss Confederation, but now also in a personalized cookbook.

From the main table of the SVP we go to the Kronenhalle to the FDP. The potato is also served here, but as a stocki and with a fine morel-cognac sauce. Here too, everything is plant-based, since the central liberal value of freedom should also apply to animals, as TIF believes. In any case, the management is also pleased with the menu at the company dinner: expensive meat is not on the bill.

Salad for the comrades, fake meat from the GLP

Hopefully the Liberals will at least tip well. Otherwise the SP will complain. The comrades can tighten their belts. TIF puts you on a diet and you have to make do with a salad. At least it comes with some pasta. And the salad is colorful – just like the (TIF quote) “vibrant diversity you represent”. That almost sounds like a crush. Although there is only salad. Or precisely because of that.

Could it be something more? The green liberals do: vegetable stroganoff is served here. The court fits the party’s DNA: technology should not be left without, but should save the environment. But anyone who has ever eaten Planted products and thought they were meat must have lost their sense of taste. But perhaps the taste dilemma will push the GLP to courageously look for new solutions – just as it promises in its election slogan.

What is on the table is eaten

The Greens are more honest to the palate. Their environmental consciousness prohibits reckless consumption and anything that resembles it. So they get a dish whose minimal footprint can be seen from afar: zucchini spaghetti with lentil bolognese. The dish is known from part-time vegan shared accommodation. But does it also taste good?

The Mitte Party also faces a culinary challenge, with a vegan sausage in puff pastry. This fits in with the party because it is a real family hit, writes TIF. The question is whether party leader and self-proclaimed meat lover Philipp Matthias Bregy (45) also likes the dish. Doubts are justified. But perhaps his two children are less sensitive.

It probably applies to all parties at the Bregy family table, just like on election Sunday: what is on the table is eaten.
