The number of protective measures is increasing slightly: quarreling parents make the Kesb’s work more difficult

class=”sc-29f61514-0 icZBHN”>

The child and adult protection authorities (KESB) in Switzerland recorded another slight increase in the number of cases in 2022.

By the end of 2022, protective measures were in place for 103,330 adults and 46,135 children in Switzerland, as the Conference for Child and Adult Protection (Kokes) announced on Wednesday.

Taking population growth into account, the number of Kesb cases increased by 1.8 percent among adults and by 2.2 percent among children. This corresponds to a long-term development and is unremarkable, Kokes writes.

The Kesb reaches certain limits when implementing visitation rights for children if their parents disagree. Kesb and support staff cannot resolve such parental conflicts or only to a limited extent, Kokes says in their statement. She is therefore committed to new concepts, such as the ‘Center for Families in Divorce’ project.
