As planned, the text was unanimously adopted at a summit in New York on Monday. A group of states around Russia had threatened a blockade the day before, but ultimately did not follow through on their threats.

With the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of 2015, the countries of the world have set central resolutions aimed at ending hunger and extreme poverty by 2030.

But the corona pandemic, the war in Ukraine and a debt crisis in poor countries have pushed the goals back extremely far: if things continue as they are, according to the UN, 575 million people will still be in extreme poverty and more than 600 million people will live in poverty . live hungry in 2030. According to the UN, only 15 percent of all resolutions are on track. (SDA)
