The parliament of the city of Zurich is concerned about the newly created drug scene in the city. On Wednesday, the City Council submitted without discussion an SVP postulate calling on the City Council to take immediate action.

The city council must prevent the spread of the drug crack in Zurich’s district 4 “by all possible means through preventive measures, social work and policing,” the postulate demands.

The city council accepted the proposal voluntarily. He too is concerned that an open drug scene is developing in the bakery. The police presence and social work Sip have already been strengthened. The surrounding school buildings hired security guards.

In recent weeks, more and more addicts have appeared in the bakery. The cheap drug crack is now also consumed there during the day. The cut cocaine is smoked and only gives a short high. But it quickly becomes addictive and aggressive.

The trigger for the expanding drug scene is the closure of the contact point in the barracks. The alternative location in Brunau is too far away for many addicts, so they switch to the centrally located bakery.

The city is currently looking for a replacement location for a new hotline, but that is difficult in the city center. “We have been trying to find a solution nearby for a long time,” social director Raphael Golta (SP) recently told the media. Even workarounds are hard to come by. (SDA)
