About 5,920 people are running for the National Council, and several cantons have reported record numbers of candidates and lists. Anyone wishing to vote can submit a pre-printed list or change it manually, as the Federal Chancellery wrote on Tuesday. However, rules do apply if the information provided is justified.
The federal Voteinfo app covers the federal election for the first time as part of a pilot project. Names and lists of candidates per canton are available. Voters will also find instructions on how to complete the ballot paper, real-time results and data on the second vote for the Council of States.
Election information in all four national languages and in English is available online on the official federal election platform at ch.ch/wahlen2023. Topics such as the new transparency rules on political funding and women in parliament are also discussed.
People with special needs can also get information from this multimedia offer. According to the Federal Chancellery, all offers from ch.ch are barrier-free. The information was compiled in collaboration with the cantons, the Federal Statistical Office and the parliamentary services.
The Confederation’s printed election instructions are available in the twenty cantons that have two or more seats in the National Council and that use the system of proportional representation to elect their representatives. They are now also available in plain language.
The information in the brochure is also available online. It explains how to accumulate and vary. It also explains what it means to submit a list with or without a party name and how to correctly fill out the ballot paper.
