This tweet violated X’s rules.

The Green Meret Schneider (31) is the end of Twitter. The Landraad member’s profile has been blocked since Tuesday. The reason is a statement by Schneider on X, formerly Twitter.

In a lost tweet, she wrote about an article in the commuter newspaper ’20Minuten’: ‘Now write your online commentary, why polarization and populism really are the bottom line and why these overpaid political faces should be hung on their heads. own damn federal patio! (Don’t forget capital letters) #populism.”

She commented on an article about the fact that the Swiss in particular are annoyed by the populism and polarization in the local political system.

satire, not violence

SVP Landraad member Andreas Glarner (60) responded to the said tweet. “If there are no consequences…”, he remarked. “I then received insults and threats of violence,” says Schneider, who defends herself that she did not intend to incite violence, but sent a satirical tweet.

Soon after, her profile was blocked. The social network informed her that this was irrevocable because they violated the policy on violent language. “It’s a shame, I really appreciated Twitter and met great people there,” says Schneider. That’s why it hurts her “heart” that she’s now banned from the platform.

Report for tweet

It is not the first time that the Green Party has had problems with statements by Elon Musk (52) on the social network. In the spring, she was therefore even reported by the Corona skeptic Nicolas Rimoldi (28) – at the time, however, the Public Prosecution Service waived a procedure.

Rimoldi had demanded that concealed carrying of weapons be allowed in self-defense. Schneider had remarked, “Oh, what, in self-defense I stab Rimoldi with the pocketknife.” The tweet was unfortunate, but not a threat, according to the Public Prosecution Service. (she)
