For SP country councilor Fabian Molina (32) participation in the anti-fascist demonstration in February has an expensive aftermath. Because he took part in an unauthorized demonstration and posted a photo of it on Instagram, the Zurich Public Prosecutor’s Office fined him CHF 300 for participating in the unauthorized event. This reports the “NZZ am Sonntag”. Molina must also pay the court costs. The SP politician received and accepted the fine.
The former Juso president joined a left-wing counter-demonstration against a Corona protest. The corona-skeptical police association “We for you” subsequently filed a report against Molina.
No protection from prosecution
The event caused massive material damage. Molina had clearly distanced himself from this. But that didn’t impress “We for you”. “If a National Council downplays left-wing extremist riots and tries to legitimize it with the fight against the Nazis, it cannot be accepted in a democracy,” the association’s board of directors wrote in a press release.
The responsible parliamentary committees then decided that Molina was not protected by parliamentary immunity. According to them, Molina’s participation in the demo had nothing to do with his position as a member of the National Council. That is why the prosecutor’s office was able to investigate Molina. (you)
