Modesty is a jewel, but the post office can do without it. The state-owned company, which grew up with letters and parcels, celebrates itself – and serves with the mega spoon.

The yellow giant offers everything that has status and reputation on the music stage: DJ Bobo, Stefanie Heinzmann, Francine Jordi and Stephan Eicher. The festival for 12,000 employees runs into the millions.

Whether it is three million, as rumor has it, or half of that, as Swiss Post assures, no longer matters much. It’s annoying that the post office cheats when it claims it’s not tax money. What is the source of the funds Swiss Post is investing today? To the monopoly. And who owns the mail and therefore the money that is earned or wasted with it? the citizens.

It’s been a few months since CEO Roberto Cirillo publicly complained about his group, announcing a savings package and thus cheating price supervisor Stefan Meierhans of higher postage costs. A maternity feast with bratwurst and bread – now optionally a vegetarian sausage – and a witty speech by Post president Christian Levrat could have been done.
