The names of 766 people who were registered in the hooligan database in 2015 can be found on the dark web.

Among the millions of stolen files published on the dark web after a hacker attack on a federal IT service provider is an excerpt from the hooligan database. This is reported by the federal police service (Fedpol).

The extract contains the names of 766 hooligans registered in the information system as of 2015. The file contains no information about crimes or measures taken.

Since the data breach became known, the federal government has been investigating the stolen files. Not only Fedpol, but other federal agencies are also affected.

Those involved are informed

An investigation is underway into the conditions and circumstances under which the excerpt from the hooligan could reach the Xplain company. In May, it was announced that the Bern-based IT company had fallen victim to a ransomware attack. Fedpol filed criminal charges against unknown persons in mid-June. They want to clarify “under what circumstances operational data could enter a private company’s file system and be attacked there,” the Fedpol statement said.

The persons whose names can be found on the leaked hooligan list will be informed directly by the federal government. For the sake of transparency, it has been decided to also inform the general public. (lha)
