Zoff among Corona critics: Daniel Stricker does not want to be a candidate for the National Council after all

Last month, the well-known corona skeptic Daniel Stricker (53) founded his own party. One might presume that he would run for election to the National Council. But now he does not want to stand for election, reports “20 minutes”.

Stricker announced this on Twitter. The conspiracy theorist’s justification is interesting. He does not want to be part of the “downturn” of the movement that emerged during the corona pandemic. Stricker is confident that critics of the measures will do “terrifyingly bad” in the October federal election. “Instead of getting 10 or 20 percent from the start, we should be happy if someone (!) makes it to the National Council.”

They steal votes from each other

The former allies are now hopelessly at odds. The Friends of the Constitution association practically no longer exists after internal quarrels. Patrick Jetzer (50), chairman of the Aufrecht Schweiz movement, accuses certain exponents of promoting themselves. This should include Stricker, as well as Nicolas Rimoldi (28), president of the Mass-voll organization. Aufrecht also accuses Mass-voll of holding a bad referendum on the third referendum on the Covid law.

Stricker, on the other hand, who achieved a certain notoriety through his Stricker TV channel, criticizes Aufrecht for refusing to engage in list connections. “That means that in their defeat they would rather vote for the hygiene fascists of the SP and the Greens than for other exponents of the movement,” he railed.

In the canton of Stricker, Thurgau, Aufrecht has entered into a list connection with the EDU – a strategy that is also being pursued in other cantons. You don’t want to join forces with other corona skeptics. The SVP is happy behind closed doors with the divided critics of the measures.
