Parliament has requested an extension of the claims settlement period. Businesses affected by the Covid 19 pandemic should recover better. The change should apply to losses from 2020, the Federal Tax Administration (ESTV) announced on Wednesday.
The Bundesrat has submitted amendments to the direct federal tax law and the tax harmonization law for consultation.
The innovations must emphatically benefit all companies. In the case of companies affected by the pandemic, the extended deduction option could facilitate reconstruction under certain circumstances, the free trade agreement writes. But start-ups that need a longer start-up time before making a profit can also benefit from this.
The federal government, cantons and municipalities should expect financial losses from 2028. The free trade agreement noted that the income shortfall should be quite modest in typical years. However, they could not be estimated more accurately. The consultation will last until October 19.
