In fact, authorities communicate in a strictly regulated official language, which often enough seems inaccessible and sometimes even cryptic. Now the authorities have outdone themselves on Twitter.
It started with a glue. It shows SVP National Councilor Andreas Glarner (60). His head sticks out of a garbage can. Next to it is written: “Who will take action and remove Andi Glarner?”
De Juso had produced it – much to Glaner’s chagrin. The politician, who regularly distributes and causes chaos, complained about the “call to violence” and immediately demanded an apology. But Juso president Nicola Siegrist refused to do so. That would probably have ended the battle between the two provocateurs.
But then the parliamentary service also contributed. On Twitter, he wrote under Glarner’s post: “Yo you r des”. With a little imagination, the character salad can be interpreted as American slang, as is common in the New York Bronx. In German it would mean something like, “Yo, that’s you.”
Have parliamentary services moved to ghetto in the US? When asked, a spokeswoman does not want to go into the deeper meaning of the mysterious signs and writes about an “accident”: “We immediately took precautions.” The comment has since been removed.
Exactly on the same day, the federal administration announced a decision on communication with the authorities. It regulates how social media officials should handle comments under their profiles. It reads: “The increasing informational activity of the federal government on social media raises fundamental questions.”
In fact, she does. Perhaps this is an opportunity to communicate less cryptically in other areas in the future. (rba)
