No climate law committee is laughed at: ‘People, never take an SVP architect’

Bridge pillars instead of wind turbines: this subject of the no-committee on the climate protection law is causing ridicule on the internet.

The opponents of the climate protection law are stepping on the gas again before the vote – and really miss the mark. On Friday, they published a tweet warning of wind turbines affecting the landscape. “The construction of a wind turbine leaves a trail of destruction in nature. It doesn’t provide enough power. Do we want to destroy our nature over a large area with 5000 wind turbines? Those who want to protect nature will vote no on June 18 against the law on dangerous river eaters!»

But it’s not just that the construction of wind turbines has nothing to do with the law – no, the opponents were also wrong when it came to image. Based on the text, this would represent two wind turbines under construction. The construction site cuts a path through dense forest.

“Is an unnecessary road being built there?”

Doubt arose on the internet as to whether these were really wind turbines. “Dude. These are pillars,” writes one user. And indeed, as wind turbines get narrower upwards, the pillars in the photo get thicker upwards. Another asked, “Is an unnecessary road being built, dear SVP? Then I think it’s great that you are campaigning against more road construction.”

Another warned: “People, never use an SVP architect! They want to sell you bridge piers in a valley for wind energy. No wonder wind power doesn’t work for them!” And another user called for “a week of hard labor on a construction site for your social media guy”.

It all seems like the image was created by artificial intelligence. Just not of particularly good quality.

Already abused Holocaust memorial

It is not the first time the SVP – who make up the majority of the countercommittee – has shown an unfortunate skill in illustrating its messages. Three years ago, the SVP Zurich promoted the restriction initiative on Twitter – with a picture of the monument to the murdered Jews of Europe in Berlin.

Secretariat later apologized to Blick for this tweet. The image is from the photo from Adobe Stock and is listed under the “Concrete” category. “None of us knew the monument. That shouldn’t have happened.”
