By 119 votes to 72, with 2 abstentions, the National Council voted Wednesday to consider amending the so-called “Lex Koller”. With this change, the Commission for the Environment, Spatial Planning and Energy of the National Council (Urek-N) wants to protect strategically important power plants from being sold abroad.
The Federal Council and a minority of the commission had requested that it not be admitted. However, the view of the majority in the Council was that such important investments were “too important to fail”. That is how SP party spokeswoman Jacqueline Badran (ZH) put it.
Following the submission, the National Council began detailed discussion of the bill. If the Grand Chamber finally agrees with her, she will go to the Council of States.
