Hi all!
This World Cup is something special and very important for me personally. Why? Because it gives me the opportunity to continue after our loss in the seventh final game with Biel against Servette. And I deliberately say “go on” and not “forget it.” Because I can never forget what happened!
But a call from national coach Patrick Fischer did me good. After that, I knew that my season would not end with a lost game in Geneva, which was still ahead. I was asleep when he first tried to get through to me. When I saw his missed call, I immediately called back and said I would be there. It was a day or two after the final seventh game.
Physically, I feel good, even if I am inevitably a little tired. The biggest problem is the mental component. I was on a team trip to Barcelona with the guys from Biel before I moved to the national team. It all happened very quickly because I only had four days after the end of the playoffs. But in a way it’s easier when you keep the rhythm and you don’t have to go back to the touch.
When I say that physically everything is fine with me, this was not the case at the very beginning. When I got into the national team, I got sick. I guess it has to do with all the emotions of the last few weeks when all the pressure has subsided. But I still managed to play two preparatory games, which is always important before the World Cup.
I’m happy to be here and can’t wait to play against Slovenia on Saturday.
