The Japanese Miyu Shindo wins the piano competition in Vigo

miyu shindo is the winner of the seventh edition of the Cidade de Vigo International Piano Competition. The Japanese pianist won not only the jury’s prize, but also the audience’s. The jury decided to award the Ukrainian woman two other prizes Danyla Saienko and a Georgian Mamikon Nahapetov. The third prize went to the Turk Demirelli Mertol. Yesterday, the grand finale of the competition was held in the municipal hall, to which six finalists agreed. Each of them performed two compositions. The winning pianist played Chopin’s Japanese polonaise-fantasy in A flat major, Op. 61, and by Liszt, Reminiscences of Don Juan S. 418.

The mayor of Vigo, Abel Caballero, announced that next year James Rhodes You will be the ambassador of the competition and want it to be known that this is the best competition in the world. Last week, the British pianist publicly criticized the meager financial support that Vigo City Council gave to this concert. for his part, Pablo Galdodirector of the competition and president of the jury, requested greater financial involvement from all institutions.
