Avoid complicating everything

When Jesus tells you that before placing the offeringon the altar you smell with your brother; or how much he commands you to forgive seventy times seven; or when he advises you that, when you go to the judge, you better come to an agreement with your opponent before everything gets complicated and they take you to the bailiff and put you in jail; or when before you face the enemy, you better calculate your strength and if you see that he is bigger than you, you reach an agreement and avoid defeat, deep inside he tells you to be calm and avoid everything unnecessary conflict. Don’t complicate your life. If you didn’t go from lawsuit to lawsuit. Don’t get into trouble that doesn’t lead to anything good. To save your energy for the things that really matter. Don’t waste your life on things that have no importance.

It is clear that we invest a lot of time in our lives, as well as a valuable and irreplaceable source of our own energy, in discussions, quarrels, dealing with minor disagreements, which harm us quite a bit. They affect us emotionally, they can cause us serious problems human relations, separating us even from loved ones, and even legal conflicts. You really have to honestly assess the issues that require conflict and keep telling yourself, “it’s not worth it, it’s not worth it.”

Why sacrifice things as important as conjugal love, well interpersonal relations, friendships, harmony with your company’s partners, your membership in communities, trade unions, associations, for “win pointless, ridiculous debates”, that all they get is to satisfy your false ego? Why even risk your life to arrogantly maintain a position that neither comes nor goes with us? We know that people in a bar after two drinks start arguing about stupid things, fight, end up pulling out a razor or a knife or killing someone or leaving them seriously injured. And then he leaves the canteen dead or imprisoned for years for a discussion as ridiculous as it is inappropriate.

The false ego, the one that betrays you, demands worship, adoration and loves to be flattered. He cannot resist admitting that he is wrong, that the other is right, that one is imperfect and has a lot to learn. False ego, pride, is a terrible sin, because it makes you believe you are a god. That you know everything, that you can do everything, that you are more than others. And that false ego leads you to complicate your life again and again in unnecessary and absurd conflicts.
