Scandal! Men and women are happy

Women and men want to live on equal terms, but not on equal terms.
Rene ShawPhilosopher and Managing Director of the Swiss Institute for Economic Policy (IWP)

Judging by the media, equality messages and influencers, our world is in a bad state. Men oppress the rest of humanity. All wild types are, depending on the hashtag, pigs, toxic or shitty. What follows for the army of opinion leaders and officers of equal opportunities: The world must be healed in a female being. As soon as a woman is in power, everything becomes peaceful, harmonious, good.

Really? Politicians are not slackers. Think Sanna Marin (voted), Jacinda Ardern (resigned before the vote), Liz Truss (brilliant, only briefly), Georgia Meloni (friendly but radical), Marine Le Pen (radical), Sarah Wagenknecht (calm, radical) . or Alice Weidel (radical). Some now see Angela Merkel, longtime ruler of European destiny, a diamond procrastinator and a pioneer of the current chaotic situation. darn.

It’s amazing how many men and women just put up with this pseudo-feminism and hatred of men. Or not. Because most people shouldn’t take these distorted messages seriously anymore. They have little or nothing to do with our living environment.

Martin Schröder, professor of sociology at Saarland University, proves this in his recent book When Are Women Really Satisfied? It presents the most important studies, figures and facts of social research. The results are eye-opening: women in industrialized countries see themselves differently than gender theorists would like them to believe – the vast majority are not victims of patriarchy, but emancipated members of society. As do most men.

The following applies: the freer the society, the greater the difference between women and men. Reason: Women and men can do everything, but they don’t have to do anything – and they have slightly different interests and needs. Cross-culturally, women are more interested in people and social professions, while men are more interested in things and technical professions. This is especially noticeable in the Scandinavian countries, which are known to be extremely progressive socially. Precisely because everyone can freely decide thanks to a well-developed social and welfare state.

And this means that women and men want to live on equal terms, but not on equal terms. They themselves know what makes them happy, and do not need difficult-speaking patrons.

So everything looks good for our (gendered) world!
