All at once, everywhere

We write with a purpose share our occasional frustrations, but above all to cooperate positively with ideas and suggestions about what should be a change for the better. There are those who say it is ours Human nature makes us selfish.

Nothing more uncertain, and perhaps the egoist himself said. In a way, we are a model of kindness and want the best for ourselves, loved ones and others. This is the philosophy we must promote if we want our country and its country to progress citizens too.

In the last days, we listened to read about the stock market crash and possible global financial crisis based on what happened to some North American and European banking entities. I will refrain from any comments on this, as I am not an expert, nor would my friend forgive me. However, what happened reflects how vulnerable we are, as well as our intimate dependence on economies more organized than Panama’s. Therefore, we must look for a national formula that allows us our own economic stability. Not to the point of politics “Let’s consume only our own”, because it is nothing but a delusion that distances us from the global reality to which we belong, within the international community. What we must do is look for our own solutions, using the resources at our disposal in a measured and wise way.

We enter the election period, very early, we are able to observe, like each other, They discuss possible alliances and candidacies. Gentlemen, where are your suggestions? And I don’t mean recycled “if elected I will do and undo” promises. Most of the time they cancel. It’s not about reinventing the wheel, it’s about showing us an action plan that shows how they think save the Social Security Fund, how they will ensure that all Panamanians have access to drinking water, how and how many jobs will be generated during their five-year mandate, how they will fight crime in the country and what they will do to improve the quality of life for all citizens. It seems like a tall order, but it is. So let’s strive for a position that is too big for us.

For me and without the intention of influencing anyone’s vote, support those who have really demonstrated knowledge of public administration, economics and business. We don’t waste our time otherwise, nor let them waste ours. Above all, let us beware of those who without any shame intend to be re-elected to a place in National Assemblyor as municipal or corregimiento authorities.

We have to start waking up from the long sleep of the last decade. It is time to think and guide the country towards a hopeful future, towards better days, in Panama with education from excellence, insurance, decent work and housing for all and the prosperous.
