About 70% of Spanish citizens admit to having a technology addiction problemas instant messaging applications, social networks and platforms streaming the main causes of this addiction.
As Europa Press reports, various technological devices are part of the daily use of most people, apart from being a tool for various aspects such as work, social relations or time spent in entertainment. In this sense, faced with such continuous use of technology, most Spaniards admit that they have developed an addiction to its use smart phones, tablets and computers. The study reflects The influence of technology in the life of Spaniardsprepared by cybersecurity firm Kaspersky, which highlights the importance of trying to improve online habits in order to “use devices more healthily”.
Specifically, among more than 2,000 surveyed Spaniards, 46% admitted that they believe they should reduce their use of technology in their daily lives. Even every tenth respondent went to therapy or at least thought about it in order to spend as little time as possible on their devices. So, as reflected in the survey results, instant messaging applications such as WhatsApp or Telegram are the most addictive with 32%. In second place is the use of social networks with 22%, followed by platforms streaming with 11%. Consequently, the activities that Spaniards prefer to do in digital format instead of analog are banking, listening to music, watching movies on the Internet and chatting with family and friends.
This addiction manifests itself practically identically in men (67.5%) and women (70%), but users aged 26 to 35 show the most addiction with 83.5%. They are followed by Spaniards between 18 and 25 years old (74.5%) and between 36 and 45 years old (73.5%).
The time spent on technology has a direct impact on the personal life of the user, causing the neglect of other relevant aspects such as social relationships. Actually, 45% of respondents admit that they would spend more time with their partner if they spent less time on technology. Likewise, 40% say that it also affects their rest time, since this addiction shortens their sleep time.
In the same way, the constant use of technology also indicates a state of mind. Despite the fact that more than half of those surveyed claim to be indifferent to photos of friends or acquaintances on social networks that show an idyllic life, 20 percent of Spaniards admit to feeling envy or sadness when comparing their day to someone else’s. .
This technological addiction does not leave work environments, according to the study, 30 percent of Spaniards admit that the use of personal social networks and messaging ‘apps’ during the working day takes away hours of work and concentration.
