Light up youth!

class=”sc-3778e872-0 cKDKQr”>

We all know this: we are happy to keep the habits we have loved since our youth into adulthood. Therefore, the public transport sector is strongly encouraged to make public transport attractive to young people (under the age of 25). The current offer for young people, Seven25, is focused more on the needs of the industry than the needs of the target group, and therefore leads an unsystematic existence.

Now they want to do more, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they hit the bull’s-eye: the new Night-GA, effective from June 1 every evening from 7:00 pm to 5:00 am, and on weekends even until 7:00 am, is not yet in effect. costs anything once 100 francs a year. This makes it even cheaper than the hugely popular “Gleis 7” that was discontinued a few years ago. Traveling with colleagues is also much cheaper: four young people can also buy a Friends day pass for 80 francs from 1 June, that is, 20 francs apiece. With a tandem day pass for CHF 20, GA youth pass holders can travel with another young person.

Having not stinted in recent years on criticizing the sluggishness of public transport, I want to say a well-deserved and enthusiastic “Bravo”! I would call it an investment in the future.

By the way, if sales figures rise sharply today and in the coming years, it will be good for all of us: after all, on average, even every third place is not occupied in public transport. In this way, young travelers can help improve occupancy today and tomorrow and thus contribute to cost recovery. This could also be good news for tomorrow’s prices.

Of course, boys should not be the only target group to be looked after. Everyone else needs attractive prices and, above all, suitable offers (I’m just saying: incomplete subscriptions!). I don’t accept the argument that it’s not financially viable: the fixed costs of public transport are high, and the load isn’t that high outside peak hours. I really only see two options: either you charge from those who don’t scare away – meaning high prices for those who get along – or you make sure the empty spaces are filled. It is a truism that price plays an important role here. That’s why I say: Courage, we want to remain a public transport state!
