“Creed III”: Adonis killed Rocky

Author: .

Formally, he passes the test with the best grades, but deep down, we’ve already seen that story a million times.

Sylvester Stallone complained (we won’t be bitter, but he complained…) that he was not consulted for the filming of the third part of the saga dedicated to his protégé Adonis Johnson. The son of Apollo Creed — the character played by Carl Weathers and with whom Rocky Balboa feuded at the center of it all, rocky 1976— came to seek help in Creed The Legend of Rocky (2015), which has already established itself as a successful franchise, given the box office and critical reception this third film received. Nor did they invite the veteran actor to offer him a cameo, which caused a bit of a storm on social media.

Stallone really doesn’t own the rights, and seasoned and savvy producer Irvin Winkler, at 92, should consider making concessions to nostalgia… the old man. So, the protagonist himself, Michael B Jordan, makes his debut as a directorhe does a lot of work and, since he’s not in the script, we can’t blame him for, If the form passes the test with the best marks, deep down we have already seen this story a million times. Not excluding that for new groups of viewers, it is the stick that beats in the ring.

Another ingredient to consider in the film, although it is no longer a new question at this point, is the issue of race. What was all white with Stallone, here becomes black. It really doesn’t matter.

Adonis is already out of the ring, he has money, a family. Well, he’s a lucky guy.. Everything goes wrong when an old colleague reappears in his life — Damiana, played by Jonathan Majors, an actor from the Marvel universe is these days marked by an arrest accused of assaulting his partner — who returns after spending several years in prison for an incident that his ex remembers well. After a few minutes it is already quite clear that the newcomer is moved by anger and that maybe seek revenge which only goes through a fight in the ring. Jordan tries to weave a basket with moves different from others. It is a case of struggle. Even for those of us who have spent more than half our lives glued to the screens – look, we haven’t seen two boxers shaking and wearing shorts – it manages to surprise us, to dilute the feeling that in the extensive boxing filmography there are still formal holes through which they strain the camera Somebody comfort Stallone…
