Mass and monsters

class=”sc-3778e872-0 gWjAEa”>

You no longer need to invent anything yourself. You can copy this from the Neue Zürcher Zeitung: “The zombie is gone, but the monster is born.” This refers to the Kafkaesque transformation of CS into UBS. “NZZ” will know, as it has a dedicated line for the financial environment, which could also just be called the environment. However, circles commonly referred to as “environment” may take offense at this comparison.

The newspaper for breeding in the percentage business speaks of this with Zwinglian implacability: “A twelve-figure horror” – a risk of 209 billion francs for the “general public”, vulgo: people. The merger of CS and UBS, according to the headline on the front page of the international edition of “NZZ”, is nothing less than a “bet for 209 billion francs.” The world needs to know what the Zurich financial world is doing right now.

Which, in turn, explains the last statement from Falkenstrasse: “UBS is effectively becoming a state-owned bank.”

This can reassure gamers around the world. However, Swiss citizens must wonder if the announced new license plates should be in keeping with the current Swiss zeitgeist:

Instead of “Ch” soon “UBS” on our trolleybus. The world will immediately know what nation we are from.

The headline of the comment, with which the German daily newspaper Die Welt delighted its readers, fits the image of a monster devouring the country: “The End of Sovereign Switzerland.” Will the Honorable Herr Kelleher, Regent of UBS, become Regent of the Confederacy?

The time has come to remind wealthy people of their real size: they are too small to be blindly trusted, big enough to conduct the affairs of their institutions to everyone’s satisfaction for a certain period of time, while the monetary value of this activity could be redefined.

Politicians can feel it in the financial sector,

Gentlemen of CS are denied bonuses – and even try to collect them from departed top delinquents, who are comfortably lounging on their premium pillows.

Ever since the financial crisis 15 years ago, that is, since the bailout of UBS with the help of 60 billion Swiss tax money, the government and parliament, as well as the awakened people, have known how risky the game with the financial center is.

But Switzerland, which otherwise loves to be small, loves to get big when it comes to its global monetary status.

Willingly small, as well as willingly big.

In the case of Credit Suisse, influential figures from the international financial scene called on the Federal Council to fulfill its responsibilities. And the government in Bern has proven that it can do it: eliminating CS with the help of UBS was a difficult task.

The government is on the Bundesplatz, not on the Paradeplatz.

Switzerland is not as small as it seems when it hides behind its neutrality, when it capriciously refuses to join the European Union and NATO, when it celebrates its sovereignty in a detached way.

However, Switzerland is not as big as it seems due to the current banking problems.

Switzerland must rediscover its measure.

How could it work? Very relevant and very specific by changing the size of the “monster” UBS. The thriving CS-CH business could be a good basis for the revival of the legendary Schweizerische Kreditanstalt: a bank once founded by entrepreneurs for companies, a bank run by value-creating backers rather than skimming managers.

You start dreaming.
