It’s also easy

We have all known for a long time that our resources are finite and we cannot continue to do business the way we have done so far. But what to do? Research institutes and industry are feverishly working on technological solutions to power our energy supply and develop more durable materials and products. Sociologists and psychologists are exploring what incentives can be used to make the circular economy and the sharing economy socially acceptable. Politicians, especially in the EU, are working on new rules designed to reinforce the sustainability of economic structures.

However, for the average consumer, much of this remains abstract. It seems like you need at least a PhD from ETH or another elite university, ideally paired with an HSG business degree and a financially strong company that will support you to find sustainable, good solutions that can make a difference in society.

But this is a delusion. It’s also very easy. In the magazine, I introduce you to three Swiss companies that turn industrial and agricultural waste into something new and better. They generate gold from garbage, so to speak – in two cases without any production and without capital behind them, but only with a simple, good idea. And with great effort and perseverance.
