Infantino scores an own goal

Gianni Infantino will remain FIFA president for at least another four years. But instead of enjoying his re-election triumph, he scored an own goal when he was scolded by the media after the FIFA Congress.

Despite the fact that Vale speaks several languages, he does not communicate well. He didn’t understand media play. Signing up for an interview is difficult, critical questions are undesirable. The same is true in Kigali, where Infantino reacts with causticity or resentment to a few critical voices. The sovereign is different.

Infantino’s post was also criticized at FIFA. The purpose of his plans is often unclear. With the “Project Trophy”, the possibility of holding a World Cup every two years, or unrecorded meetings with former federal prosecutor Michael Lauber in the course of the criminal case against him, Infantino failed to create transparency with clear communication.

A little more self-criticism and insight, but I would also like to distance myself from those in power, and Infantino appears as part of this elite and, as in Kigali, is promoted. The fact that he was supported by about 200 associations and confirmed in office by endorsement is clearly not enough to satisfy his own ego.

If Infantino keeps his promise and generates FIFA record revenues in the next four-year cycle, about 90 percent of which goes to football, he should be re-elected in four years. Enough time to work on his biggest weakness.
