Where are we going as human beings?

Where are we going? Why are we on earth? It can’t be that we are here by accident. That we have such a great ability to think, almost unlimited, to wonder, to question, to deepen, to investigate, they discover, and to tell us at the end that everything happened by chance. That everything was created by a combination of forces, chemical elements and that’s why we are what we are, but it could have come out in another way, anything. That everything turned out as if it was the result of a game of dice, or the whimsical brush of a drunken painter making strokes. Honestly, I don’t feel well thinking to myself that I could have been a lizard, a scorpion, or a lion from an erupting volcano. That everything was possible.

But no, I am a being a man endowed with intelligence, will, feelings, the desire for transcendence, with the desire to build, create, leave a mark in history. This cannot be the result of chance.

all our history human life is woven with the purpose of transcendence, solidarity, coexistence, overcoming obstacles, creativity, research, ingenuity, progress, achievement of goals, and there is the entire historical and actual memory of accumulated progress. And it can be seen that there is an upward march towards ever greater fullness.

Where are we going? It cannot be that we are the result of chance, a whimsical dice game made by irrational forces that ended up in something where there is order, organization, coexistence, civilization, progress and ever upward movement. Of course, with all the drama setbacks, destruction, endless conflicts, betrayals, wars in all rows. But with a common denominator: the aspiration to seek greater fulfillment in all aspects. And with the desire to be immortalized in time and beyond time. Longing for eternity, and for a happy eternity.

We carry that in the depths of our souls. We carry this inherent tendency deep within us to be: we strive to improve ourselves, to be more, to grow, always looking for something further. We long for eternity.

Those cravings, that hunger for God is what created many people and holy women. Great mystics in our Church, but also in other religions. They marked the lifestyle, creating religious orders, great theological debates, church movements. And they wrote history.

Also, these longings for self-improvement and transcendence caused the advancement of science, the advancement of technologies, and the spread of knowledge. In history, movements were created that promoted democracy, the independence of nations, abolition slavery, promotion of human rightsrespect for human life and nature. This is not the result of chance.
