There is a worldview called nihilism. Nikhil means “nothing” in Latin. The nihilist denies values, morality and meaning. It has a deeper meaning in philosophy, but someone who uses words like “left-green” is unlikely to pass for a philosopher. This is not even a political statement, but a simple rabble, which in this case is not only against
directed against those who think otherwise, but also against nature, which is clearly not considered worthy of protection. This is nihilism in its most consistent form, where the denial embraces even the denier’s livelihood.
Why people begin to despise creation is their secret. Mostly middle-aged men who turn into grumpy bumbling almost overnight, voicing their grievances as if they were brilliant political studies or even philosophy. They just freak out. Perhaps due to a decrease in its potency. Perhaps because of their lesser impact on women, especially younger ones. Maybe because of the realization that they have not progressed anywhere and they do not have enough time left to get anywhere. Maybe they hate their mother and therefore mother earth.
Actually, protecting nature is our duty, regardless of personal attitude. Just as we agree in all camps that child pornography must be fought. However, when it comes to the environment, we have completely different views. Even scientific knowledge is denied. And until this is so, until we protect nature from industrial exploitation, as children from sexual exploitation, with the same uncompromising justice, at some point there is only one thing left: nothing.
